  • apply for ~ [~에 지원하다]
  • apply for a job [일자리에 응모하다]

 

  • apply oneself to ~ [~에 전념하다]
  • He applied himself to his study. [그는 공부에 전념했다]
  • to work hard at something, especially with a lot of attention for a long time
  • - Stephen would do well if only he applied himself.
  • apply yourself to
  • - Over the next months, he applied himself to improving the technique.

 

  • apply to A for B [A에게 B를 조회하다]
  • apply to a company for information [어떤 회사에 조회하다]

 

  • as a result of ~ [~의 결과로]

 

  • as ~ as any [누구에게도 못지않게, 누구에게도 지지 않는]
  • - He works as hard as any other student. [그는 다른 학생에게 못지않게 열심히 공부한다.]

 

  • as ~ as ever [여전히, 변함없이]
  • - He is as well as ever. [그는  여전히 건강하다.]

 

  • as [so] far as ~ be concerned [~에 관한 한]
  • - As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong. [나에 관한 한 아무것도 나쁜 것은 없다.]
  • as far as somebody is concerned 
  • spoken used to show what someone’s opinion on a subject is or how it affects them
  • - As far as Americans are concerned, a lot of our hotels are below average.
  • as far as something is concerned(also where something is concerned
  • spoken used to show which subject or thing you are talking about
  • - As far as traffic is concerned there are no delays at the moment.

 

  • as it happens [공교롭게] = it just so happens
  • - As it happens, I have an engagement today. [공교롭게 오늘 약속이 있다.]
  • used to tell someone something that is surprising, interesting, or useful
  • - As it happens, I know someone who might be able to help.

 

  • as much as to say [마치~라고(말) 하거나 하려는 듯이]
  • - She gave a look as much as to say, “Mind your own business.” [그녀는 “참견 말라”라고 말하기나 하려는 듯한 표정을 지었다.]

 

  • as often as ~ [~할 때마다=whenever, every time]

 

 

  • as well [~도 또한, 게다가 또=also]
  • - He gave me advice and money as well. [그는 나에게 충고를 하고 게다가 또 돈도 주었다]
  • in addition to something or someone else
  • - Why don’t you come along as well?
  • as well as doing something
  • - The organization gives help and support to people in need, as well as raising money for local charities.
  • as well somebody might/may
  • formal used to say that there is a good reason for someone’s feelings or reactions
  • - Marilyn looked guilty, as well she might.

 

  • ask a favo(u)r of ~ [~에게 부탁하다]
  • - May I ask a favor of you? [부탁이 있습니다만]

 

  • at a distance [얼마간 떨어져서]
  • cf. in the distance [멀리]

 

  • at a person’s disposal [(아무의) 뜻 (마음) 대로 되는]
  • - This car shall be at your disposal. [이 차를 마음대로 쓰게.]

 

  • at a [one] stroke [일격으로, 단번에, 단숨에]

 

  • at all costs [어떤 희생을 치르더라도, 꼭=at any cost)]

 

  • at all events [좌우간, 여하튼간에=in any event]

 

  • at any cost [어떤 희생을 치르더라도, 꼭=at all costs]

 

  • (at) any moment [언제라도, 당장에라도] 
  • - Accidents may happen at any moment. [사고는 어느 순간에 일어날지 모른다.]
